About the Margallah Hills Society

The Margallah Hills Society was established in the early years of Islamabad's development with a commitment to preserving the natural landscape and environmental character of the Margallah Hills.

Our Purpose

The Society promotes awareness, stewardship and responsible enjoyment of the Margallah Hills. Its purpose is rooted in the recognition that the hills are an important part of Islamabad's natural landscape and environmental heritage and should be protected for present and future generations.

Conservation and Stewardship

The Margallah Hills are more than a scenic backdrop to Islamabad. They support natural habitats, biodiversity and an important green landscape within and around the capital. Protecting this environment requires continued awareness, responsible public behaviour and respect for the natural character of the hills.
The Margallah Hills Society supports these principles by encouraging responsible engagement with the hills and by promoting greater understanding of their environmental importance.

Community and Responsible Enjoyment

The Society recognises that the Margallah Hills are enjoyed by walkers, hikers, families, nature enthusiasts and the wider community. Enjoyment of the hills carries a corresponding responsibility to protect the environment, respect wildlife and leave the landscape undisturbed.

Continuing the Work

The Society's commitment to the Margallah Hills is a continuing one. Through awareness, stewardship and responsible public participation, the Society seeks to contribute to the long-term protection and appreciation of this important natural landscape.

Our Commitment

The Margallah Hills Society believes that conservation is a shared responsibility. Protecting the Margallah Hills requires informed citizens, responsible visitors and sustained attention to the natural environment.
